Our Mission: Parliamentarians United Against AMR

Connecting and supporting politicians who are driving political action to tackle antimicrobial resistance.

Politicians are making a difference

The Global Parliament vs AMR Initiative brings together and supports politicians from across the world, whether elected or appointed, who champion AMR as a political priority. These politicians scrutinise government or executive action and work to ensure that national responses are informed by science, grounded in lived experience, accountable to the public, and integrated across wider policy areas such as environment, reproductive health, animal welfare, and food systems.

Members of Global Parliament vs AMR are encouraged to:

  • Establish, join, or strengthen groups focused on AMR, such as cross‑party caucuses, committees, or informal working groups, and use these platforms to advance AMR‑related scrutiny, advocacy, and policy development.
  • Champion science‑informed, evidence‑based policymaking that reflects national realities and global consensus, and is guided by the lived experience of healthcare workers, constituents, and local stakeholders through active consultation and inclusive engagement.
  • Raise AMR in parliamentary business through questions, debates, motions, or equivalent procedures.
  • Engage constructively with relevant executive leaders, government departments, and stakeholders to support stronger AMR policies, funding, oversight and, where necessary, encouraging further action.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and multisectoral coordination in the implementation of AMR National Action Plans.
  • Support the integration of AMR into wider policy and programme areas, including human health (such as reproductive health and communicable diseases), environmental protection, animal welfare, and food systems, so that AMR is embedded across national and global policy frameworks.
  • Participate in global and regional AMR dialogues, including high‑level meetings, study visits, and peer learning exchanges to advance the AMR response.
